I have waited in anticipation for The Dark Knight to be released. FINALLY, last night me and the roommates went to the 12:00 am showing! We purhcased our tickets earlier in the day, thankfully, so all we had to do was get to the theater early to find "good" seats.
Thinking that 10:45 pm was early enough we drove to the theater in Bellevue. As we pass the theater to go to the parking garage, we see people standing outside the building. I find this a little unsusal, because the theater is on the third floor and why would there be people all the way outside.
Once in the parking garage, we find a beautiful parking space right by the elevator. Things seem to be working out in our favor. We go to the third level, and sure enough, the line we had originally looked at in disbelief was the line we needed to be in. We go back down to wait our turn, and at this moment the line is backed up almost half a block. CRAZINESS!
That was not the craziest thing though, we saw the long line and the usual weirdo people in costumes, but you don't normally see people scalping tickets on the street for a movie! HILARIOUS!
With a 45 min wait there was nothing much to pass the time. To make it worse, we were standing in the middle of about a million high school aged kids. Uhg.
However, my biggest concern was having a bad seat and not sitting with my roommates! At the same time, I didn't care too much, because when the movie starts seating arrangements don't really matter.
Finally, we get into the theater. People are everywhere, "this seat is saved," "can't sit here," it was a Forest Gump experience. We ended up with pretty good seats, tic-tac-toe three in a row!
It was a very noisy theater, especially with all the under-aged "jokers" (pun) sitting around us.
However, when the movie started the theater was SILENT!
The movie was amazing! Christian Bale was gorgeous, of course, and Heath Ledger was brilliant! It's really sad that he is gone, because he did an absolutely amazing job. So, if you go to see this movie don't expect him to be a gay cowboy or a beautiful Aussie teen heartthrob, because you will be disappointed. Also, props to Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. Aaron Eckhart also did a good job! Maggie Gylenhal was only so, so for me.
For a movie with a lot of big names, it was outstanding!
Love it! See it!
