One of my best friends from high school had her wedding ceremony in August, and I just got a picture! Leah met her husband, Greg, on a military base several years ago. They dated and sometime later he was deployed to Iraq- I don't know all the details, it's not really my story to tell. Anyways, when he came home on leave August of 2007, they went to the courthouse and got hitched. It was perfect for them, because they didn't want a big wedding.
It was funny, because Leah called to tell me about it, and then a week later we met up and I got the news that they were having a ceremony when Greg got home. Anyways, they renewed their vows- which they wrote (this time) and had a beautiful ceremony! I was asked to give a speech at the reception... I stressed about what I would say, but fortunately, Leah and I have known each other since the 7th grade, so I had a lot to pull from. I am so happy for the two of them.
Now, they have been married for a full year and are expecting their first child sometime in April. WOW, is right! They are so excited and my creativity/artistic ability has already been recruited for the nursery- once they find out the sex- it's gonna be a boy (I just know it)!

Last week I got to meet up with my parents and sister, Shanna, at my other sister, Tiffany's home in Oregon. It was the first time we had all been together in a long time, well since May of 2007. It's amazing what happens when we get together. As much as us girls used to fight growing up, it's kinda funny how far we have come. Tiffany would always be mad that Shanna and I when we tried to replicate her outfits. Now I think the tide has changed as I found she tends to compliment my outfits. Shanna and I have always been close, even when we fought (and we fought. In high school she would pull over on the side of the road and yell at me to get out or change my attitude...) we were still best friends. I still have the attitude, but I kinda think it's part of my charm ;) .
What we put our poor parents through, I don't know. We have a certain love of toilet talk around the dinner table, that usually tends to be pee-your-pants funny- no pun intended. However, one night we continued our dinner conversation in the living room. I had noticed that our mom had set out the movie Made of Honor, as it was leaning in plain sight against the TV--oh so subtle. But the rest of us were just content to sit and talk.... that is until I pulled out my most beloved sidekick-- my self-inflating whoopee cushion! You know, there is an art to the usage of a whoopee cushion, but more on that later.
This ridiculous toy kept us entertained for hours. I would use my artistic flare and Shanna would interpret which each flarp was--scientifically speaking-she is a nurse. That is how we spent our time together- laughing and talking, and whenever the conversation got too serious-- well you can imagine what took place.
This is what I love about my family- we can be together and laugh until our abs hurt over stupid things. Not a lot of people appreciate our humor, but it is our humor and we are oh-so-proud of it. Our last name means "the little fool," maybe it's true, but we do have fun!
Well, since I've moved and space seems to be the issue, I do not have my computer set up. One day I'll get a lap top, but this is not the point of my story. Anyway, since I don't have access to my iTunes which I was really addicted to, I have now tuned into online radio. There is a site that my previous roommate Jess used called Pandora. I love it! It is my iTunes backup.
I like it because I'll type in one of my favorite artists or a song that I love and then the station gathers a ton of songs that are in the same genre or are similar. I just really like it! I still miss iTunes, but this gets me through the day... =).
I have several stations saved, but now I am on a Country kick-the good stuff, like Garth Brooks early stuff! I love "gritty-raw-cowboy" country, none of this Taylor Swift sings country and pop, junk!
So yeah, Pandora.com- you know for those just-in-case emergency situations!
Yesterday in church the pastor was praying for a local church and the pastor of that church is named Rick Martin. Well, I don't know why but I heard "Ricky Martin" and of couse "Livin' la Vida Loca" pops into my head.
I just had to chuckle. I started to think, "what if Ricky Martin was the pastor of that church?" I'm sure worship would be pretty interesting!

One of my favorite books growing up was a tale of a bear who lost his button in a department store. Afraid that nobody would buy him he went in search of his missing accessory. Yes, in case you could not tell from the picture it is the tale of Corduroy (still hard for me to pronounce due to my childhood speech impediment- so embarrassing)!
I was recently at the home of my oldest sister, when I noticed the oh-so-familiar cover of this beloved tale sitting on the table. My memory was jogged as I flipped through the pictures and and laughed at my favorite, the illustration of the little bear riding the escalator.
Anyways, I was surprised as I walked through Target (the happiest place on earth) and saw the familiar bear everywhere- well not everywhere, but he was on a birthday card. I am so glad that this book is making it's way back onto the bookshelves for it's 40th anniversary!

Since I am writing of this bear I should also mention another one so dear to my heart that is celebrating his 50th anniversary, Paddington bear. Although I enjoyed Corduroy's tale more, I think I need to give props to the to the bear who always finds himself in a pickle. I did love the story when he gets into the paint and his coat is covered in primary colors. I think I was not drawn to him as much because he like marmalade and being little and not knowing what that was, it just sounded foreign and disgusting.
Well, here's to the bears who shaped my childhood! Thanks to the authors who imagined them!
